Continuing Professional Development explained

What is Continuing Professional Development?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the process that professionals use to learn and develop new skills. It is a record of any knowledge or experiences gained through structured or unstructured training methods throughout the year.

Why is CPD important?

Whatever career you are in, best practices and recommended ways of doing tasks are likely to change. CPD provides a standardised way to keep your skills up-to-date. If you’re a member of a professional body, such as ACCA, you’ll need to complete CPD each year and be able to provide records of your training.

How does CPD benefit me?

Continuing Professional Development helps to keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date, giving you the confidence to deal with the constant changes within the accountancy industry. Knowledge gaps can be identified and targeted with specially selected training courses. Professional standards are maintained and positive advancement within your career can be clearly demonstrated.

What are some examples of CPD?

Gaining CPD points can be achieved in many ways. Common examples are online or in person events including workshops, conferences, webinars, online courses and qualifications.

How does Horizon CPD help?
